(Matthew is) a bittersweet folk ballad scoured from the family archives. We all fell in love when we were handed a CD of songs written by Alice’s uncle Matthew, which he had recorded many years earlier. This piece caught our attention, a juxtaposition of uplifting orchestration and heartbroken vocals that touched our souls.
Painstakingly recreated and reworked over many hours over many months, we can only hope we have done this beautiful piece justice and have named it after its creator in homage.
Lose yourself to the organic sonic landscape and the humbling, introspective lyrics of Matthew.
